From e6072fa0c4c22d62acf3dcb78c8ee260a1368bd7 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Alex Crichton Date: Fri, 11 Apr 2014 12:20:33 -0700 Subject: [PATCH] rustc: Deterministically link upstream C libraries Previously, upstream C libraries were linked in a nondeterministic fashion because they were collected through iter_crate_data() which is a nodeterministic traversal of a hash map. When upstream rlibs had interdependencies among their native libraries (such as libfoo depending on libc), then the ordering would occasionally be wrong, causing linkage to fail. This uses the topologically sorted list of libraries to collect native libraries, so if a native library depends on libc it just needs to make sure that the rust crate depends on liblibc. --- src/librustc/back/link.rs | 19 +++++++++++---- .../interdependent-c-libraries/Makefile | 15 ++++++++++++ .../run-make/interdependent-c-libraries/bar.c | 3 +++ .../interdependent-c-libraries/bar.rs | 23 +++++++++++++++++++ .../run-make/interdependent-c-libraries/foo.c | 1 + .../interdependent-c-libraries/foo.rs | 20 ++++++++++++++++ .../interdependent-c-libraries/main.rs | 16 +++++++++++++ 7 files changed, 92 insertions(+), 5 deletions(-) create mode 100644 src/test/run-make/interdependent-c-libraries/Makefile create mode 100644 src/test/run-make/interdependent-c-libraries/bar.c create mode 100644 src/test/run-make/interdependent-c-libraries/bar.rs create mode 100644 src/test/run-make/interdependent-c-libraries/foo.c create mode 100644 src/test/run-make/interdependent-c-libraries/foo.rs create mode 100644 src/test/run-make/interdependent-c-libraries/main.rs diff --git a/src/librustc/back/link.rs b/src/librustc/back/link.rs index 4e407d52329..9ac99b26716 100644 --- a/src/librustc/back/link.rs +++ b/src/librustc/back/link.rs @@ -1487,15 +1487,24 @@ fn add_upstream_rust_crates(args: &mut Vec<~str>, sess: &Session, // crate as well. // // The use case for this is a little subtle.
